HRN is trying to reduce their send out emails to one a fortnight on a Thursday (generally a week before the film nights) …. this is the content of the first!

If you are going to David Arnold’s talk in Ballarat on Friday night (6th) 7pm “Save Water by Using It” Brewery Lecture Theatre, SMB campus, $10 entry …. let us know if you have space in your car for others (thanks).

Fire Preparation Workshop on this Sunday (8th)… meeting on the north side of the cutting in Hepburn… 10am ($15 for adult new comers) … this area is a real challenge!

The following weekend on the Saturday there will be a working bee at the library community garden 9.30 – noon …. You can’t imagine how satisfying a small garden is until you have a 2 hour working be in it!

NEW ! The workshop we’ve been waiting for!! Alexis will give a tour and talk workshop on “Edible Weeds”…. how to identify the most delicious and prepare them for dinner! 10am -12.30pm on Sunday 22nd Nov ($15pp)

By now most of you will have had the chance to look at David Holmgren’s Bushfire Discussion Paper (it’s downloadable from http://www.holmgren.com.au front page, readable at the library (& other places), or obtainable at Melliodora (16 Fourteenth St) for $4 photocopy donation). If you think there are ideas that council should adopt, now is the time to send a comment to that effect to Kaylene Conrick the CEO. Council supports the dissemination of this document to encourage resident to think about strategies for our shire and welcome feedback.
