Hepburn Planning Scheme Review Workshops

Hepburn Shire Council has organised public workshops in Daylesford, Creswick, Clunes, Hepburn Springs, Trentham, Smeaton, Glenlyon and Mooney Ponds in Melbourne.

The workshops are being held during the consultation stage of a project that is reviewing the Hepburn Planning Scheme.

Have your Say about The Future Planning of Your Community

Council encourages residents to attend the workshop in their community. The workshops are an opportunity for residents to have a say about the future planning of their town and community.

Shire Mayor Cr Rod May said:

Consultation in the Planning Scheme review project is about listening to the community’s expectations and views about planning and how it can be improved. The project will set the planning agenda in the Shire, its towns and rural communities for the next 10 years. It is therefore important for Council to consult with the community. I urge residents to attend and participate in the workshops.

Council has engaged Planit, a consultancy firm based in Castlemaine, to conduct the review. Consentric Facilitation, also based in Castlemaine, will help facilitate the workshops. David Robb of Planit said that “the format of the workshops have been designed in a way that all views can be heard and valued.”

A Community Consultation Report

Council wants to engage with all users of the planning system. Consultation is occurring with government departments and agencies, the development community and key stakeholders in the Shire community. A community consultation report will be produced at the end of April. The report, which will include a summary of the issues and discussion at each of the workshops, will be considered in the review of the content and performance of the Planning Scheme. The Review project will be completed by June 2011.
