The Earthship concept is an excellent example of redesigning build environments which the recent workshop held at the local tip demonstrated. People were so inspired that a motion was put forward at our local Council to complete the project and use it as a demonstration site.
SHARE is planning to hold a series of workshops and working bees to complete the project leading up to next year’s full training for Earthship building. The project has also elicited interest from several parties who would like to build their own Earthship. If you would like to know more or get involved in the workshops and working bees please contact us on 5309 2664.
Redesign is the Key – Earthships and Visionary Thinking
Reduce, reuse, recycle is good, but with finite ecological limits, we need to pay more attention to redesign. The wind farm is one good example of how we redesign the way we source our energy needs.
The Earthship concept is another excellent example of reusing, recycling and redesigning build environments which the recent workshop held at the local tip demonstrated. People were so inspired that a motion was put forward at our local Council to complete the project and use it as a demonstration site. This is visionary thinking to forecast the need for this kind of redesign. It encompasses the reuse of rubbish that would otherwise go to land full, recycling of materials to make something new and redesigning the way we building. This involves thinking outside the conventional box of building design.
Some of the issues that Earthship building addresses are – the high cost of conventional building, meeting the needs of changing demographics, housing shortage particularly for low income, using the resources available locally, emergency rebuilds, building with zero carbon emissions, self sufficiency and beautiful aesthetics on completion.
Would like information on any workshops being offered.
I love the concept that I have seen on this site , I would be interested in learning more .
Thanks Pam
